💡 Why a stranger just called you 'mole'

When the vegetable aunty calls you 'mole' (daughter) or the tea man calls you 'mone' (son), you haven't been adopted - or actually, you have. Kerala extends family words to everyone as warmth. Being 'mole'-d by a stranger is a sign you belong.

Mini dialogue — act it out

Ammamma: Mone, evideya veedu?
Son, where's your house/where are you from?

You: Njaan Londonil ninnaanu, ammamme.
I'm from London, grandma.

Ammamma: Aiyyo! Ithra dooram! Choru kazhicho?
So far away! Did you eat?
