Everyday Spoken Malayalam is the full version of the spoken-first method I use in my one-to-one lessons. It starts at your very first word and climbs, one level at a time, to native-speed conversation, using the Malayalam people actually speak at home in Kerala and in Malayali families abroad. The courses are hosted on Udemy, so you learn on your phone, tablet, TV or computer, at your own pace.

What every lesson includes

Each lesson is taught in four short videos, so a phrase is heard, used, understood at speed and then remembered.

Plus a quiz after every lesson, a downloadable PDF lesson pack, exact English captions, full lifetime access and a certificate of completion.

Which level am I?

Pick the first line that sounds like you. If you are between two levels, start with the lower one: the early lessons move quickly.

Questions about the video courses

Do I get a certificate?

Yes. Udemy gives you a certificate of completion for each course you finish.

How long do I keep access?

Udemy gives full lifetime access to each course you buy, including later updates to the lessons.

Can I learn on my phone?

Yes. Watch in the Udemy app on your phone or tablet, on a TV, or in any web browser. The app also lets you download lessons to watch offline.

Are there captions?

Yes. Every video has exact English captions, written for these lessons rather than generated automatically.

Are there quizzes and practice materials?

Yes. Every lesson ends with a quiz, and each lesson comes with a downloadable PDF lesson pack. Each lesson is taught in four videos: the lesson, practice, a listening lab and a spaced review.

Do I need to read the Malayalam script?

No. The courses teach spoken Malayalam, and you can start speaking from the first lesson without reading the script.

Which course should I start with?

Use the level guide on this page. If you are unsure, start with A0-A1: it moves quickly for anyone who already knows a few words. The lessons are numbered 1 to 704 across the series, so each level continues exactly where the last one stops.

What if a course is not right for me?

Udemy handles payments and refunds under its own refund policy, which currently lets you request a refund within 30 days of purchase for most courses. Check Udemy for the current terms.

How is this different from the free 30-day course?

The free 30-day plan is a short starter route. The video series is the complete path from A0 to native, with practice, listening and spaced review built into every lesson.

How is it different from one-to-one lessons?

The video courses are self-paced and cannot correct you live. One-to-one lessons add live speaking practice and correction, and many learners combine the two.
