How to Ask "How Much Is the Fare?" in Malayalam

Charge ethrayaa? — How much is the fare?

In short: To ask "how much is the fare?", say ചാർജ് എത്രയാ? (charge ethrayaa?) or എത്ര രൂപയാ? (ethra roopayaa?). For a meter: മീറ്റർ ഇടാമോ? (meter idaamo?) ("can you put the meter on?").

When & how to use it

Asking meter idaamo? ("put the meter on?") helps avoid overcharging. ___ vare = "up to ___" (e.g. station vare = "to the station").
