In short: To say "I'm learning Malayalam", say ഞാൻ മലയാളം പഠിക്കുന്നു (njaan Malayalam padikkunnu), or casually ഞാൻ മലയാളം പഠിച്ചോണ്ടിരിക്കുവാ (njaan Malayalam padhichondirikkuvaa) ("I'm in the middle of learning Malayalam").
