How to Say "What Happened?" in Malayalam

Casual, everyday Malayalam — not textbook. By Dr. Reshmi R Nair, PhD.

എന്താ പറ്റിയത്?
Entha patiyathu? — What happened?

In short: To ask "what happened?", say എന്താ പറ്റിയത്? (entha patiyathu?). A gentler "what's wrong?" is എന്താ പറ്റിയേ? (entha patiye?), and "is everything okay?" is എല്ലാം ശരിയാണോ? (ellaam shariyaano?).
