Where should a complete beginner start?

Start with greetings and your own introduction, then question words, then the sentence frame enikku ___ venam (I want ___). Those three steps produce speech faster than any amount of vocabulary. The full sequence is set out in the complete beginner roadmap.

Are these Malayalam lessons free?

How long does it take to hold a conversation?

About three months at twenty to thirty minutes a day. Frequency matters far more than session length — fifteen minutes daily beats two hours once a week.

Do I need to learn the Malayalam script to speak?

No. Speaking comes first. Most learners start reading around month three, once they can already hold a short conversation, which makes the script much easier to absorb.
